Japanese-Inspired Design Meets Forward Thinking ReUse

Posted by Blake Holt (DRN Intern)

Joinery Structures, of Oakland, combines Japanese-inspired design principles with an environmental sensibility. Its subsidiary company Live Edge creates pre-fab homes and furniture using wood that has been reclaimed after having been removed from urban settings due to storm damage or disease. They even have their own mill, so customers can make use of their own salvaged wood to create flooring, shingles, and custom-milled wood. (Live Edge created all of the furniture for the David Brower Center.
